#FitnessFriday: Kenny Selmon

“Hurdles will keep coming in your life. Solving these hurdles is the key of your next success.”

I had a great time photographing Spyder Korea athlete and professional 400m Hurdler Kenny Selmon. Another fun shoot in the books playing with long exposures and stroboscopic effect!

For these images I used a Profoto (D2 + D1) 3 light set up. For the key light I used the OCF Beauty Dish camera right of the subject. For the rim lights, I used grids (and colored gels for the first image) aimed on each side of the subject.

For the below image I took some inspiration from amazing sports photographer James Quantz Jr and his latest work for Gamecock Football.

For these images I used a Profoto (D2 + D1) 2 light set up. For the key light I used the OCF Beauty Dish camera right of the subject. For the back light I used a grid to intensify the fog behind the subject. I added a yellow colored gel to add a fire like effect. Underneath the subject was a silver foam board and a white v-flat to the right of the subject.

In the above image, I tried my hand at creating a stroboscopic effect on a white background. The image didn’t come out as successful as I wanted it to be so will be going back to the drawing board to experiment a bit more.
